At Brockington College, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare, safety and health of every student in our care. We believe that every young person has the right to feel safe, valued and supported, and we take our responsibility to protect them extremely seriously.
We foster an honest, open, caring and supportive environment where students are encouraged to share concerns, seek help and know that they will be listened to. Safeguarding is not just about responding to issues, but about creating a culture where wellbeing comes first and where prevention, guidance and care are at the heart of everything we do.
The welfare of our students is always of paramount importance. By working in close partnership with parents, carers and outside agencies, we ensure that every child has the support they need to thrive, flourish and live life to the full.
Our safeguarding commitment
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. It means:
-
protecting children from maltreatment
-
preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
-
ensuring that children grow up in safe and nurturing circumstances, supported by effective care
-
taking timely action to enable all children to achieve the best possible outcomes
To meet these responsibilities, our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is built on four key elements, which you can also read about in full:
-
Prevention – creating a positive school atmosphere, delivering teaching and pastoral support that promotes wellbeing, and following safer recruitment procedures
-
Protection – ensuring that all staff are trained and supported to respond appropriately, consistently and sensitively to child protection concerns
-
Support – providing guidance and care for students and staff, as well as for children who may have experienced harm or abuse
-
Working with parents – maintaining clear and open communication so that appropriate actions can be taken in partnership with families
Through this approach, we aim not only to keep children safe, but also to help them flourish, thrive and learn to live life to the full in a secure and supportive environment.
