Student absence during term time
In line with government legislation, Brockington College is unable to authorise student absence during term time for family holidays. Authorisation will only be granted in the most limited of cases, where the Principal is satisfied that truly exceptional circumstances apply. Requests for absence for reasons such as convenience, cost of travel, or family occasions will not be authorised.
Absence requests for other purposes, such as sitting external examinations, representing the school or county at a recognised sporting event, or for genuine compassionate circumstances, will be considered on an individual basis. These circumstances are rare, and any approval will be at the sole discretion of the Acting Principal.
All requests for absence must be submitted in writing, either by letter or email, addressed to Mrs Batstone for the attention of Mr Jon Barton, Acting Principal. Parents and carers are reminded that regular, uninterrupted attendance is essential for both academic progress and personal development, and that even short absences can have a significant negative impact on a student’s outcomes.
