Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided to schools so that targeted support can be offered to disadvantaged students, helping to close the attainment gap and ensure they achieve in line with their peers.

This funding is allocated on top of the school’s main budget and is designed to address underlying inequalities. It applies to children who have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM), as well as children who are looked after, those who have previously been looked after, and the children of service personnel.

At Brockington College, we receive a Pupil Premium allocation each year which we use carefully and strategically. Support and interventions are planned on a needs led basis, meaning that students can benefit from more than one type of support at any time if this is required. This might include academic interventions, mentoring, wellbeing support or opportunities to widen participation in enrichment activities.

Our decisions are informed by the latest research and evidence, including the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) Teaching and Learning Toolkit, which provides up to date guidance on approaches that are proven to make the biggest difference. This ensures that our Pupil Premium funding is used effectively to improve the attainment, progress and life chances of our disadvantaged students.

Our Pupil Premium Lead is Mrs Victoria Carr, Assistant Principal, who oversees the planning, delivery and evaluation of support to ensure that every eligible student receives the help they need to flourish.
